CONTENT

 

The bill would amend Public Act 48 of 2005, which designates the third Saturday in June of each year as Juneteenth National Freedom Day and November 26, of each year as Sojourner Truth Day, to eliminate the designation of Juneteenth National Freedom Day.

 

The bill is tie-barred to House Bill 4457, which would designate June 19, of each year as Juneteenth.

BACKGROUND

 

Public Act 54 of 2023, which took effect July 12, 2023, designated June 19 (Juneteenth), of each year as an observed public holiday.
