CONTENT

 

The bill would amend the Michigan Promise Zone Authority Act to do the following:

 

--    Require that an individual appointed to a promise zone authority board reside in the promise zone, or within a reasonable proximity to the promise zone.

--    Require that an individual serving on a promise zone authority board continue to reside within the zone or within a reasonable proximity to it.

--    Allow a promise of financial assistance to include expenditures on success programming designed to increase student degree or certificate attainment.

--    Specify that "administrative costs" would not include expenditures on educational improvement activities or success programming.

The bill would not have a significant fiscal impact on the State or local units of government.
