Rep. Helena Scott, from the 7th District, offered the following invocation:
“O God, our King eternal, You separate the day from the night, turn the shadow of darkness into morning light. You separate the land from the waters, the Earth from the sky.
You remind us that You and You alone have created all things, breathed life into each creature that walks on this Earth, flies in the sky or swims in the sea. You are the source of all our blessings. Call to our awareness that You reign over dominions and nations, principalities, and palaces. You dwell in our hearts and reign in us.
Lord Who enlightens us, we ask for Your supernatural wisdom as we make some tough decisions. May those sharing information give us pertinent points so we all clearly understand. Help us to be unified in making the best possible decisions and to effectively carry them out.
Let our aims be aligned with Your direction. Let our plans be orchestrated by You. Father, let Your will be done so that our decisions will be based upon Your desires for us and Your people. Whatever it is that You want, Lord let it happen.
O Lord, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. In You, we live, move, and have our being. May we serve You well and faithfully this day. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.”
