PERMITTED SPECIES LIST DEADLINE

Senate Bill 1093 as passed by the Senate

Sponsor:  Sen. Mike Kowall

Senate Committee:  Natural Resources

House Committee:  Natural Resources

Complete to 12-5-16

SUMMARY:

Senate Bill 1093 would push back by two years the date by which the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) must each create a permitted aquatic species list for commercial trade and aquaculture purposes for which they are the relevant department. The bill would move the date from the present April 15, 2017, to April 15, 2019.

The bill amends Section 41302a of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA), which is contained in Part 413 (Transgenic and Nonnative Organisms).

The bill also would make other technical amendments that do not appear to significantly impact the current meaning of the section.

The current permitted species list requirement was added by Public Act 537 of 2014 (SB 795).  See:
