     A bill to amend 1990 PA 187, entitled

 

"The pupil transportation act,"

 

by amending section 9 (MCL 257.1809), as amended by 2006 PA 107.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 9. (1) The state board of education Except as provided in

 

subsection (2), the superintendent of public instruction shall

 

regulate pupil transportation. The state board superintendent of

 

public instruction or its his or her authorized representative may

 

review, confirm, set aside, or amend the action, order, or decision

 

of a school with reference to the routes over which pupils shall be

 

transported, and the suitability and number of the vehicles and

 

equipment for the transportation of the pupils. The superintendent

 

of public instruction shall promulgate rules as necessary to


 

implement this act except that the department of state police, in

 

cooperation with the superintendent of public instruction, may

 

promulgate rules related to vehicle and equipment standards.

 

     (2) After consultation with the parents of the affected pupils

 

and the ownership of a manufactured home park, a school may

 

determine the number and location of stops necessary for the

 

receipt and discharge of pupils from school buses in that

 

manufactured home park.
