A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled
"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"
(MCL 324.101 to 324.90106) by adding section 70107.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 70107. (1) The department, in conjunction with the
department of community health, shall create a "Michigan Outdoor
Fitness Award" and a program that provides for the granting of the
award. The department shall also seek 1 or more conservation or
recreation organizations to partner in the administration of the
award program. The Michigan outdoor fitness award shall be given to
individuals who complete a variety of outdoor activities identified
by the department, such as:
(a) Camping in a state forest campground.
(b) Completing a successful hunt of 1 or more designated game
species.
(c) Catching 1 or more designated species of fish.
(d) Hiking 1 or more designated trails.
(e) Completing 1 or more designated biking trips.
(f) Riding 1 or more designated snowmobile trails.
(g) Canoeing or kayaking 1 or more designated water trails.
(h) Undertaking other outdoor recreational activities
designated by the department.
(2) In administering the award program under subsection (1),
the department shall do all of the following:
(a) Establish a point system for completion of the designated
activities.
(b) Establish a procedure for documenting completion of the
designated activities.
(c) Establish a process for making awards to individuals who
accumulate a predetermined point total.
(d) Create a certificate and other recognition for individuals
receiving the award.
(3) The department and the department of community health
shall broadly publicize the Michigan outdoor fitness award and the
award program created under this section.
