A bill to amend 1984 PA 431, entitled
"The management and budget act,"
by amending section 241b (MCL 18.1241b), as added by 1995 PA 38.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 241b. (1) The department shall consider the energy
efficiency of all materials used in the construction, alteration,
repair, or rebuilding of a building or facility owned or operated
by this state.
(2) The department shall issue directives to require all
buildings and facilities owned or operated by this state to use
high-efficiency lightbulbs when replacing an existing lightbulb or
installing a new lightbulb.
(3) The department shall issue directives to require all
buildings and facilities owned or operated by this state to use
electronic ballasts when replacing an existing magnetic ballast or
when an electronic ballast is needed to support a new high-
efficiency lightbulb.
(4) As used in this section, "high-efficiency lightbulb" means
a bulb with a luminous efficacy of at least 50 lumens per watt.
