A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled
"Michigan election law,"
(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 11a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 11a. As used in this act:
(a) "Residence" means, for a school board member under section
310, that place at which a person habitually sleeps, keeps his or
her personal effects, and has a regular place of lodging. If a
person has more than 1 residence, or if a spouse has a residence
separate from that of the other spouse, that place at which the
person resides the greater part of the time is his or her official
residence.
(b) "Resident of the state" means, for an officeholder under
section 292, a person having a residence as defined in this
subdivision. "Residence", as used in this subdivision, means that
place at which a person habitually sleeps, keeps his or her
personal effects, and has a regular place of lodging. If a person
has more than 1 residence, or if a spouse has a residence separate
from that of the other spouse, that place at which the person
resides the greater part of the time is his or her official
residence.
