A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5351 AS INTRODUCED 10-24-07

Section 611 of the Michigan Vehicle Code prohibits drivers from disobeying the instructions of a traffic control device "unless otherwise directed by a police officer."  House Bill 5351 would amend the section so that in a work zone, drivers could be directed to ignore a traffic control device by a police officer or an individual designated to direct traffic in that work zone.
