A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled
"Michigan campaign finance act,"
(MCL 169.201 to 169.282) by adding section 55a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 55a. (1) A candidate committee, candidate, or treasurer
or agent of a candidate committee shall not accept a contribution
from a separate segregated fund established under section 55 if the
candidate was or is a person from whom a contribution for the
separate segregated fund could have been or may be solicited under
section 55.
(2) A person who knowingly violates this section is guilty of
a misdemeanor punishable, if the person is an individual, by
imprisonment for not more than 90 days or a fine of not more than
$1,000.00, or both, or, if the person is not an individual, by a
fine of not more than $10,000.00.
