House Resolution No. 298.
A resolution commemorating July 21, 2004, as Dave Bing Day for his entrepreneurial acumen and his humanitarianism in the state of Michigan.
Whereas, It is an honor to recognize Dave Bing for “making a difference” in a positive way, who has shown by example that with determination and hard work it is possible to accomplish your goals and achieve success. His ambition and determination has made him a leader who has inspired several others to embrace his philosophy and also work to make a difference in a positive way for themselves and the community they belong to. Today, the Bing Group, Dave Bing’s multi-million dollar firm employs hundreds of people and has nine plants in Michigan and Indiana. Dave Bing is also a former Detroit Pistons basketball star who was voted one of the top 50 basketball players of all times. His number 21 was the first basketball jersey number to be retired in Detroit Pistons history. He was inducted into the Michigan Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Naismith Hall of Fame in 1990; and
Whereas, For his outstanding achievements, resolute determination to uplift and empower his community, and continual demonstration of humanitarianism, Dave Bing is being singled out and honored. We applaud him for being a positive role model whose life has been an inspiration to countless others; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body honor Dave Bing and commemorate July 21, 2004, as Dave Bing Day; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Dave Bing as a token of our respect for his fine work.
