                                                                                 A bill to amend 1986 PA 273, entitled                                             

                                                                                

    "An act to establish a Michigan educational opportunity grant               

    program for resident qualified students enrolled in eligible                

    public postsecondary schools; and to prescribe the powers and               

    duties of certain state agencies,"                                          

                                                                                

    by amending section 3 (MCL 390.1403).                                       

                                                                                

                THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:                      

                                                                                

1       Sec. 3.   (1)  A recognized postsecondary school in this                    

                                                                                

2   state is eligible to participate in the MEOG program under this             

                                                                                

3   act if the postsecondary school is a degree-granting public                 

                                                                                

4   institution approved by the  state board of education  department           

                                                                                

5   of career development.                                                      

                                                                                

6       (2) A grant shall not be made under this act to a student                   

                                                                                

7   who is enrolled in a program of study leading to a degree in                

                                                                                

8   theology, divinity, or religious education.
