A bill to amend 1909 PA 279, entitled
"The home rule city act,"
by amending section 29 (MCL 117.29), as amended by 1994 PA 17.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 29. (1) The district court, a municipal court, or the
2 circuit court, as provided by law, may hear, try, and determine
3 actions and prosecutions for the recovery and enforcing of fines,
4 penalties, and forfeitures imposed by the charter and ordinances
5 of the city, and sanction offenders for the violation of the
6 charter and ordinances, as is prescribed and directed in the
7 charter or ordinances.
8 (2) A city with a population of 750,000 or more may establish
9 an administrative hearings bureau to conduct hearings and make
10 determinations as provided by law regarding alleged violations of
11 municipal civil infractions of the city charter or ordinances.
1 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take
2 effect unless all of the following bills of the 92nd Legislature
3 are enacted into law:
