A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
by amending section 2 (MCL 257.2), as amended by 2004 PA 19.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 2. "Authorized emergency vehicle" means any 1 of the
2 following:
3 (a) Vehicles of
the A fire department vehicle, a police
4 vehicles vehicle, a road commission vehicle, ambulances
an
5 ambulance, or a
privately owned motor vehicles vehicle of a
6 volunteer or paid fire fighters
fighter if authorized by the
7 chief of an organized fire department, or a privately owned motor
8 vehicles vehicle of a volunteer or paid members
member of a
9 life support agency
licensed by the department of consumer and
10 industry services community health if authorized by the life
11 support agency.
1 (b) For purposes of section 698(5)(c) during an emergency, a
2 vehicle owned and operated by a federally recognized nonprofit
3 charitable organization that is used exclusively for assistance
4 during that emergency.
5 (c) For purposes of section 653a, a road service vehicle
6 giving a visual signal by means of a flashing, rotating, or
7 oscillating red or amber light. As used in this subdivision,
8 "road service vehicle" means a vehicle that is clearly marked and
9 readily recognizable as a vehicle used to assist disabled
10 vehicles.
