A bill to amend 1895 PA 215, entitled
"The fourth class city act,"
by amending section 1 of chapter IV (MCL 84.1).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 CHAPTER IV--ELECTORS AND REGISTRATION
2 Sec. 1. The
inhabitants Except as otherwise provided in
3 this section, the residents
of cities having who have the
4 qualifications of
electors under the constitution of the this
5 state and statutes
enacted thereunder under the constitution of
6 this state, and no
others, shall be are electors therein in
7 those cities. For purposes of registering to vote and voting at
8 an election, special election, or primary election on a real
9 property tax issue or a local proposal or local question that
10 affects real property only, a person is considered a resident of
11 the city to be affected by the result of that election if that
1 person owns, and has paid all assessed ad valorem property taxes
2 on, real property located in that city. Registration of electors
3 and division of the city into precincts shall be conducted in the
4 manner provided by law.
5 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take
6 effect unless Senate Joint Resolution ______ or House Joint
7 Resolution P (request no. 02159'03) of the 92nd Legislature
8 becomes a part of the state constitution of 1963 as provided in
9 section 1 of article XII of the state constitution of 1963.
