CONTENT

The bill would amend the Motor Fuels Quality Act to remove gasoline containing 10% or less of ethanol from the required notice on a gas pump. The bill would take effect October 1, 2003.

Currently, a retail dealer must not transfer, sell, dispense, or offer gasoline for sale in Michigan unless the pump dispensing the gasoline is posted with a notice that indicates the grade of gasoline and the additives in the gasoline that are dispensed from the pump. If the gasoline contains at least 1% alcohol by volume, the notice must state that the gasoline contains the alcohol indicated, such as ethanol or methanol, and its percentage. The bill would exempt gasoline containing 10% or less ethanol from this requirement.
