CONTENT The bill would amend the Revised School Code to apply the Open Meetings Act to the meeting at which an intermediate school board is elected.

Under the Code, the members of an intermediate school board must be elected biennially by a body composed of one member of the board of each constituent school district, designated by that board. The secretary must send a notice of the hour and place of the meeting to the secretary of the board of each constituent district by certified mail at least 10 days before the meeting. (The bill specifies that the secretary of the intermediate school board would have to send a notice of the meeting of the electoral body, as presently required.) Under the bill, the meeting of the electoral body would have to be an open meeting conducted as prescribed under the Open Meetings Act.
