AQUATIC NUISANCE PERMITS: TO BE ISSUED WITHIN TWO WEEKS
House Bill 4142
Sponsor: Rep. Chris Ward
Committee: Great Lakes and Tourism
Complete to 7-29-03
A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4142 AS INTRODUCED 2-24-03
The Public Health Code requires a property owner, improvement association, or local government that wants to use chemicals to control aquatic nuisances (such as swimmers’ itch and aquatic plants) to obtain a permit from the Department of Environmental Quality. House Bill 4142 would specify that if the DEQ did not approve or disapprove a completed permit application within 14 days after receiving the application, the permit application would be considered approved.
