A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4042 AS INTRODUCED 1-28-03
The General Property Tax Act requires the local township board of review to provide a person who protests his or her property tax valuation with information of his or her right for further appeal, including, a statement of the right to appeal to the Michigan Tax Tribunal, the address of the tax tribunal, and the final date for filing an appeal with the tax tribunal. The bill would require the board of review to also supply a tax tribunal petition form, which the tribunal would have to provide to the board of review upon request. [Note: The provisions in the act relating to a township board of review also apply to a city if its charter does not provide for a board of review.]
