ADDENDUM TO SENATE FISCAL AGENCY ANALYSES OF SENATE BILLS 360, 361, 386 AND 390 DATED 6-9-03 AND SENATE BILL 480 DATED 6-11-03

HOUSE COMMITTEE ACTION:

The fee increases in the bills are part of the governor’s proposed budget for the Department of Agriculture.  The additional revenue generated by the increase in fees would replace General Fund/General Purpose revenue appropriated to the department for the related programs.  Taken together, the bills would increase fee revenue for certain programs and services offered by the Department of Agriculture by approximately $312,200.

The House Committee on Agriculture and Resource Management did not amend the bills as the passed the Senate.

A more thorough fiscal analysis of each bill by the Senate Fiscal Agency is available on the Michigan Legislature web site.

POSITIONS:

The Department of Agriculture supports the bills.  (6-24-03)

The Michigan Farm Bureau is supportive of SB 480, does not oppose SB 360 and SB 386, and has no position on SB 361 and SB 390. (6-24-03)
