A SUMMARY OF SENATE BILL 1120 AS REPORTED FROM HOUSE COMMITTEE

The bill would authorize the State Administrative Board, on behalf of the state, to convey the state's half interest in approximately 30 acres of vacant land now under the jurisdiction of the Department of Management and Budget located in Amber Township in Mason County to the Mason County Road Commission for $1. (The property reportedly was given jointly to the state and Mason County in 1907.)

The conveyance would have to require that the property be used exclusively for public purposes, and that if it were not used for public purposes, the state could repossess the property, terminating the grantee's estate in it.

The conveyance would have to be by quitclaim deed approved by the Attorney General. The state would retain rights in aboriginal antiquities, but not the mineral rights.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The bill would have little fiscal impact on state government. The property is vacant land currently used for storage by the Mason County Road Commission. There is no appraisal of the property's value.
