SENATE BILL No. 1280

A bill to amend 1964 PA 44, entitled

"An act to authorize the state board of control for vocational

education to accept federal funds as provided under the provi-

sions of federal law,"

by amending the title and sections 1, 2, 3, and 4 (MCL 395.31,

395.32, 395.33, and 395.34).

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1 TITLE

2 An act to authorize the state board of control for voca-

3 tional education DEPARTMENT OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT to accept

4 federal funds as provided under the provisions of federal law.

5 Sec. 1. The state board of control for vocational

6 education DEPARTMENT OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT may take any neces-

7 sary action consistent with state law to comply with the

8 provisions of Public Law 210 of the 88th Congress known as the

9 "vocational education act of 1963" THE CARL D. PERKINS

1 VOCATIONAL AND APPLIED TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION ACT, PUBLIC LAW

2 88-210, 98 STAT. 2435, and may accept and expend federal funds

3 available under that law ACT for the purpose of strengthening

4 and improving the quality of vocational education and to expand

5 vocational education opportunities in this state.

6 Sec. 2. This act shall not be construed as authorizing

7 such board THE DEPARTMENT OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT to expend or to

8 incur any obligation to expend any state funds in excess of any

9 amount which THAT may be appropriated for such purpose

10 VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PURPOSES by the legislature. Any funds

11 appropriated shall be paid out of the state treasury in accord-

12 ance with any fund accounting procedures necessary to assure

13 proper accounting for federal funds paid to the THIS state.

14 Sec. 3. The state board of control DEPARTMENT OF CAREER

15 DEVELOPMENT shall make an annual report of all activities and

16 expenditures made under this act to the state legislature.

17 Sec. 4. This act shall expire when federal funds are no

18 longer available under the provisions of such Public Law 210
