COLLABORATION OF COUNTY FIA OFFICES
House Bill 6293
Sponsor: Rep. Judith Scranton
Committee: Family and Children Services
Complete to 10-3-02
A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6293 AS INTRODUCED 9-17-02
Under the Social Welfare Act (Public Act 280 of 1939), the director of the Family Independence Agency (FIA) is permitted to organize two counties into a single administrative unit for the purposes of administrative efficiency. The bill would revise this provision to instead allow, with the consent of the counties involved, the director of the FIA to develop a collaborative report between two or more counties to combine into a single administrative unit. Further, the bill states that the plan for a collaborative effort would ensure that the FIA provides a presence and services in every county.
