A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5939 AS INTRODUCED 4-23-02

The bill would amend to the Social Welfare Act (Public Act 280 of 1939) to require the Family Independence Agency (FIA) to establish, implement, and administer a child care assistance program for an individual who has a spouse in the military reserves who is called into active duty, and as a result of the spouse being called into active duty, the individual would have to incur new or additional child care expenses or have a lower household income to pay child care expenses normally incurred prior to the active duty.
