A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4639 AS INTRODUCED 4-24-01

The bill is a companion bill to House Bill 4638, which would amend the Michigan Adoption Code to prohibit individuals from knowingly misidentifying someone as the biological father of a child undergoing adoption. House Bill 4639 would amend Chapter XVII of the Code of Criminal Procedure to specify that fraudulent misidentification of a biological parent would be a Class G misdemeanor against a person, with a two-year statutory maximum sentence of imprisonment. The bill is tie-barred to House Bill 4638.
