A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4229 AS INTRODUCED 2-14-01

The handgun licensure act (Public Act 372 of 1927) requires, generally, that in order to buy, carry, or transport a pistol in the state a person must first have obtained a license for the pistol under the act's provisions, and specifies that a license is void unless it is used within 10 days after the date it was issued. The bill would amend the act to increase to 30 days the period of time after its issuance in which a pistol license would be void unless used.
