A bill to amend 1915 PA 113, entitled "An act prescribing the powers and duties of township boards and legislative bodies of cities and villages with relation to the care of cemeteries; and to provide for perpetual care deposits, and the disbursement thereof," by amending section 1 (MCL 128.61). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. (1) The township board of each township shall have 2 the authority and it shall be its duty to cause all cemeteries 3 within its township, except private cemeteries and cemeteries 4 owned by cities and villages located in such townships, to be 5 properly taken care of. The legislative body of any city or vil- 6 lage may contribute to the maintenance and care of cemeteries 7 owned by the township, and the township board may contribute to 8 the maintenance and care of cemeteries owned by a city or 05314'99 b LBO 2 1 village. Such contributions shall be paid from the respective 2 contingent or general funds. 3 (2) The township boards of 2 or more adjoining townships, 4 whether or not the townships are located in the same county, may 5 contribute to the maintenance and care of cemeteries owned by 1 6 or more of the townships. 7 (3) Any person or persons interested in the maintenance of 8 a lot in any cemetery may deposit in trust with the township 9 treasurer a sum of money not to exceed the sum of $500.00, the 10 interest or principal of which shall be expended to maintain the 11 lot described in such THE amounts each year as shall be des- 12 ignated in the letter of deposit , or by agreement with the 13 township board. Said maintenance THE money shall be expended 14 under the supervision of the township board. 15 (4) THE MONEY DEPOSITED WITH THE TOWNSHIP BOARD SHALL BE 16 INVESTED IN THE MANNER UTILIZED FOR OTHER TOWNSHIP FUNDS. 17 Enacting section 1.
