CONTENT
The bill would amend Part 801 (Marine Safety) of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to require a permit from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in order to place a mooring buoy in State waters.
Under the Act, buoys or beacons, except for mooring buoys, cannot be placed in State waters unless authorized by the Department in writing. The DNR may authorize, through the issuance of revocable permits, the placing of buoys or beacons in State waters to mark obstruction to navigation, designate bathing areas, designate vessel anchorages, or for any other purpose if it will promote safety or navigation.
