A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5087 AS INTRODUCED 11-2-99


Currently, it is prohibited for a person, corporation, partnership, and so on to own and operate, either directly or indirectly, both a cemetery and a funeral home. The bill would amend Article 18 of the Occupational Code, entitled "Mortuary Science", to repeal the ban on joint ownership of cemeteries and funeral homes.
