A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4985 AS INTRODUCED 10-12-99

The bill would amend the Michigan Liquor Control Code to ban the sale, delivery, or importation of alcohol by transactions conducted by Internet, telephone, computer, or other electronic means except as provided for under the code. If a sale, delivery, or importation of alcohol occurred by any such electronic means, the seller or distributor would have to be appropriately licensed under the code, pay any applicable taxes to the commission, and comply with all prohibitions of the code or applicable federal law.
