A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4029 AS INTRODUCED 1-26-99

The bill would amend the Fire Prevention Code to require a fire door to have a lighted door handle. Wherever the code required a building or structure to have a fire door, the bill would require the door to have a lighted handle that would allow a person to find and to determine how to open the door. The light would have to be powered by a source that would not fail in the case of a general power failure.
